JP21 Project 2nd Term Newsletter

WORD FROM JP

So we’ve come to the end of another successful year for the JP21 Project where we have seen great passion and enjoyment for this beautiful game. We have made great strides in our vision and we continue to grow from strength to strength. Thank you to all who have contributed to the success of this season. We are truly grateful for your continued support as we aim to give the kids of our community an opportunity for a better tomorrow. As we continue to strive for greatness may we never forget why we do what we do: ‘To see our kids smile, enjoy what they do and to fulfill their dreams’ #BeTheStandard

“Being the standard†and “Making a difference†were common themes that ran throughout the project during the 2nd of half of the year. What a year it has been!! In one year we were able to influence more than 1000 learners lives, create opportunities and make dreams come true.

There were so many highlights;

  • Increasing school participation to 26 schools

  • 3 learners have received bursaries at High schools

  • 100’s of kids were transported to PPC Newlands to watch their favourite cricket players play,

  • We entered our first competition outside Mitchells Plain as JP21 cricket team,

  • Hosted 2 seasons and 2, 6 a side competitions,

  • Hosted a cricket clinic in Heideveld for youth at risk

  • Together with Ronderbosh Boys we hosted 40 learners during a 3 day winter program that involved life skills, specialized coaching, team talks from JP DUMINY and DANE PEIDT and it was a great experience for our boys to use first class facilities @ WPCC,

  •  Hosted our first successful Golf Day Royal Cape

  • Mickaeel Prince making the u11 WP INVITATIONAL TEAM

  • U13 team reaching the semi- finals of the Blue Bells 6s competitio

Congratulations to the winners of the 2nd edition of the JP21 LEAGUE and 6s. Strandfontein Primary 13 6’s champions, Woodlands Primary 13 League champions , Yellowood Primary u11 6s and League winners. Woodlands Primary winners of the PG WAGNER Friendship shield

Looking back and reflecting on the year, brings great joy and satisfaction that we were able to hold true on what we promised to deliver at our launch. JP21 PROJECT lead by SA cricketer and founder JP DUMINY has achieved so much with so little and in record time. It has been amazing journey to see learners transform and develop their skills and improve their social behavior, many teachers have highlighted this point, that sport improved their discipline.

We are encouraged by the enthusiasm shown by schools, by teachers, by learners and family members. Their efforts cannot be faulted, and we must thank all principals, coordinators teachers for their commitment to our cause.

We must also acknowledge that without our partners this achievements would only be a dream, we say thank you to Nutri Bullet, PPC Cement, Adidas, Grey Nichols, WP Cricket, CTC Sports, and many other stakeholders that have assisted us on our journey.

JP21 PROJECT is based on a sincere commitment to improving the lives of learners in Mitchells Plain, we acknowledge that there is more to do, that there are lessons to be learnt, that when our learners are growing and having loads of fun so do we learn and have loads of fun.

We must continue to improve the state of school cricket, continue to build relationships with stakeholders that can assist us in our mission. We will continue to empower our schools and equipped them with the tools to grow the sport and generate interest and passion.

Looking ahead, we look to add more schools, improve infrastructure, continue to build solid relationships, improve coaching, and introduce mini cricket and much much more!
